Hello,
Thanks for interest in TunedIT. Could you please start TunedTester with --print-stack option? For example, if you use Linux, open the console, go to TunedTester directory and run:

Code: Select all
./tunedtester.sh --print-stack

Then execute the test as usual. You should receive full stack trace of the error, apart from the simple error message. At the end, it will contain the very first cause. If you still don't know the reason of error, post the stack trace here.

The root cause is:

java.net.UnknownHostException: tunedit.org

which means that probably your network settings for Java has to be changed, because Java can't resolve (DNS) TunedIT server. Can you tell me what's your operating system?

Hello,
my guess is, something in your Java Network Settings is causing the problem. You can find those settings in Control Panel -> Java -> Network Settings. Could you tell us, what do you have there? I understand, that your browser connects to tunedit.org without a problem, so maybe try "Use browser settings".
If that won't work, you can also try commands "ping tunedit.org" or "nslookup tunedit.org" from command line, and tell us the result.

Hello
My Java Network Settings is ok,that is the "Use browser settings".

when I "ping tunedit.org",the result is like follow.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ping tunedit.org
Pinging tunedit.org [91.121.153.107] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 91.121.153.107: bytes=32 time=345ms TTL=49
Reply from 91.121.153.107: bytes=32 time=345ms TTL=49
Reply from 91.121.153.107: bytes=32 time=349ms TTL=49
Reply from 91.121.153.107: bytes=32 time=360ms TTL=49
Ping statistics for 91.121.153.107:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 345ms, Maximum = 360ms, Average = 349ms

when I "nslookup tunedit.org",the result is like follow.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>nslookup tunedit.org
Server: dns.whu.edu.cn
Address: 202.114.64.2
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: tunedit.org
Address: 91.121.153.107

I think my Java DNS is ok. I use a software to see the connection ,which shows my java has connected to 91.121.153.107.

This suggests some network configuration problems (proxy? DNS servers?). Another guess: DNS caching in Java. Please try these commands:

Code: Select all
java -Djava.security.policy=security.policy -Dsun.net.inetaddr.negative.ttl=0 -cp tunedtester.jar:libs/* org.tunedit.tester.Tester

or
Code: Select all
java -Djava.security.policy=security.policy -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=0 -cp tunedtester.jar:libs/* org.tunedit.tester.Tester

Run this command from console, in TunedTester directory. This is the same command as in tunedtester.sh, but with additional option for JVM (you must use Sun JVM) that switches DNS caching off.

If this still doesn't help, try to play with Java networking properties. See: Java Networking Properties and How to disable DNS cache (java.security file).
