gettign started

wow, this seems to be different than the netflix contest which I entered.
I know the deadline is almost up, but how does one get started here? I read each part, and it kind of makes sense, except to start. do we start with a particular data set? are we designing groups/trees from that? I could not find a clear explanation anywhere, just straggled bits of information here and there.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Technical details of how to get started can be found in task descriptions. They are quite different for each track. Tracks are independent, you may participate in both of them or only one.
