Music Instruments Challenge Attributes

Postby ixnaysmash » Tue Jan 18, 2011 10:30 pm

Hello, I have two questions regarding the attributes in the Music Instruments Challenge.

1) Can you explain the intended meaning of the Harmonic Peaks attributes? I'm having trouble understanding because, looking at specific instruments, the data provided does not correspond to what I would expect.

2) Is it possible to request more attributes? The note attribute would be more useful if it also contained the octave number.

Thanks,
Brandon

1)Harmonic Peaks is a sequence of local peaks of harmonics of each frame of signal.

2) I will refer to the paper "Multiple classifiers for different features in timbre estimation"(http://coitweb.uncc.edu/~ras/mir/Paper-27.pdf) regarding to the feature attributes questions.

3) With the note attribute it is usually easier to estimate timbre, but the estimation of note itself is sometime difficult and inaccurate.
