ECML/PKDD 2011 Discovery Challenge ended at noon on 8th of July! The competition attracted significant number of participants, (having in mind a number of interesting challenges running in parallel): 303 teams with 346 members, with 62/22 active teams per task. In total more than 2000 submissions were sent and best approaches outperformed baseline solution many times.

We have the same top-scorer in both tasks (D'yakonov Alexander). Top teams are:

Task 1
1. D'yakonov Alexander, Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, Moscow State University ("D'yakonov Alexander")
2. Eleftherios Spyromitros-Xioufis and Emmannouela Stachtiari, Department of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki ("lefman")
3. Martin Možina, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia ("Nitram")

Task 2
1. D'yakonov Alexander, Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, Moscow State University ("D'yakonov Alexander")
2. Javier Kreiner, University of Trento, Italy ("meridion")
3. Vladimir Nikulin, Department of Mathematics, The University of Queensland, Australia ("UniQ")

Final standings of the challenge can be found on the Task Leaderboards. We expect that the top solutions will be described in papers (and workflow contest submissions!) and presented during Challenge workshop.

All contest files, including solutions and evaluation procedure, are now publicly available in the challenge folder. Feel free to use them in your research, and remember to put a reference to this contest!
