TomTom becomes the major sponsor of ICDM Contest (2010-08-17 15:58:20)

It is our pleasure to announce that TomTom, the world's leading provider of portable GPS and car navigation systems, has taken over the sponsorship of IEEE ICDM 2010 Contest. TomTom recognizes the competition as a highly valuable initiative which may help design the most accurate navigation software, and looks forward to the development of close cooperation between scientific community and GPS industry.

Welcome on board!

More changes in GPS task description (2010-07-21 14:56:36)

1) You can now download a 10% subset of GPS training data. It may be helpful at initial stage of data analysis, due to much smaller size of files.
2) Correction in format description of 'average velocities' file: 2nd (terminal) nodes of segments are written in the file before the 1st (initial) nodes, not the other way round.

Clarifications for GPS task (2010-07-19 13:00:30)

Task description of "GPS" track contains now more information about file format of solution and training data (second file). Additionally, predictions should be calculated as harmonic instead of arithmetic average of velocities of cars that will pass a given segment. Please view the task page for details.

Outliers in GPS data (2010-07-14 15:14:12)

Data for "GPS" task contain occasionally wrong values, from outside the range of geographical coordinates of Warsaw. They occur rarely and should be ignored. See this post for details. Thanks to amrkabardy who noticed this error.

Task descriptions (2010-07-09 19:07:48)

Some clarifications in task descriptions were added in recent days: detailed information about selected segments for "Traffic", description of attributes for "GPS". See Task pages for details.

Mayor of Warsaw becomes patron of the contest (2010-07-05 15:03:23)

We are pleased to announce that the Mayor of Warsaw, Mrs. Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, supports the ICDM 2010 Contest and agreed to become officially its patron. The Mayor views our competition as a valuable initiative which may help solve traffic problems of Polish capital. Thank you!

IEEE ICDM 2010 Contest has started! (2010-06-22 19:03:23)

We wish you good luck and hope you invent marvelous algorithms that will finally bring all of us relief from these terribly annoying traffic jams. Watch this page for news and announcements about the contest.
